Greater New York Area Alumni Summer Picnic & Cultural Festival
The Greater New York Area Alumni Summer Picnic & Cultural Festival, held on June 22 in New York, concluded successfully! ASCEND Immigration Services was honored to be invited to participate and hosted a special on-site consultation session during the event.
We received a warm welcome from the alumni community, and our immigration consultation booth drew significant attention — with over 100 alumni stopping by for advice. Many attendees expressed concerns about their current visa status and immigration challenges, such as PERM application denials, H1B lottery rejections, company layoffs, and lengthy H1B and PERM timelines, seeking our professional guidance for solutions.
During the consultation, we provided detailed explanations of the NIW (National Interest Waiver) — its eligibility requirements, application process, and required documentation. As an immigration category that does not require employer sponsorship or labor certification, the NIW offers a direct pathway to U.S. permanent residency for professionals with exceptional abilities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM). Through personalized strategy planning and background enhancement, many alumni discovered new possibilities to resolve their visa challenges through the NIW program.
In addition, our team provided individualized immigration planning advice, helping attendees develop practical strategies tailored to their specific circumstances. The consultation session not only helped alleviate anxiety among many participants but also offered them clear and achievable pathways to secure their immigration status — laying a strong foundation for their future career and life development.
The success of this event would not have been possible without the enthusiastic participation and support of all alumni. Looking ahead, we plan to host more in-person seminars and consultation events, continuing to build a platform where professionals can connect, support one another, and grow together.
